El Desperado plot
"They dealt in violence and death!"
Steve, an outlaw finds a mortally wounded Confederate officer. Before taking his last breath, the officer tells Steve about a chest of gold hidden in his blind father's house. Steve dresses up as the officer and convinces the blind father and his assistant that he is the man's son. When he wants to look for the gold, a band of outlaws drives into town and forces Steve to join in robbing a transport with wages from the army. Steve tries to run off with the loot, but is overtaken by the gang. They torture him and leave him for dead. The gang also kills the old blind man. Steve recovers from his injuries and has only one thought: revenge on the gang.

Purchased the beautiful German release in digibook and watched it in Italian with German subs.
Atmospheric, sultry Spaghetti western, in which the main character pretends to be his son in a blind man's case, in order to get to hidden gold treasure. This does require some benevolence on the part of the viewer, as this comes across as quite improbable and unbelievable, but whoever goes along with this will be presented with a good, exciting western, perhaps a bit small-scale here and there, as at least two thirds are set in an abandoned ghost town, with no more than a maximum of ten people present.
Giordana is good in leading role, I really only know him further from that other Italian western, Johnny Hamlet, in which he also convinced and this is certainly a good genre actor.
The rest of the cast is solid and with Dexter and Ghia we also get two beautiful women in major supporting roles.
Finale is very well worked out with nail-biting suspense.
Well worth it!
