U-571 plot
"Heroes are ordinary men who do extraordinary things in extraordinary times."
1942, World War II. Large amounts of ammunition and countless lives are lost because the Americans cannot decipher the messages Hitler sends to his troops. That shortcoming could well mean the victory of the Germans in the long run. To prevent this, a large-scale infiltration operation is being set up. The investigative services intercepted distress signals coming from U-571, a German submarine that is floating somewhere in the North Atlantic due to technical defects with the Enigma, the infamous machine that encodes German messages, on board.
