The Cormorant plot
John doesn't mind taking care of the seabird they named Archie. Tom, his son, loves it. Only his wife Mary is concerned at first, and later afraid of the aggressive beast. And for what it does to John. John ignores Mary's pleas and threats. The beast has awakened his oppressed Celtic spirit. Mary runs away with their son, while John becomes increasingly attracted to the animal.
