Detective Fritz Langley (Robbie Coltrane) is under a lot of stress, he is not feeling well, and his relationship with his wife is about to explode. Then the body of a young woman is discovered in Central Park. She appears to have been shot. Tiredly, he tries to make something of the matter. Then another dead man is found, apparently murdered in the same way. And another one. During his wanderings, he is told a strange story about a saxophone player, who might be involved in the murders?
