Seen a lot of films in the late nineties and early 2000s, by Fulci, Deodato, Argento and everything in the genre, was fond of it (still do), partly because of the film night specials with Jan Verheyen, who weekly shows horror and bad taste on your TV. released from the 70's, 80's and 90's. With that in mind, I continue to give this movie and others in the genre and era high scores. I even played this one pretty crazy and somehow I found that duck voice really fat, with razor in the middle of the eye, just great entertainment

Fairly entertained with this New York Ripper. It turns out this is my third Lucio Fulci, and like Zombi 2 and The Beyond, this isn't a masterpiece by any means, but still quite enjoyable. The title pretty much sums it up: there is a serial killer active in New York, and he also likes to croak in a Donald Duck voice before he strikes. In addition to the killer and his killings, we also see a Columbo-esque detective who tries to grab the killer by the scruff - in short, we have a slasher/whodunit combination. The film is otherwise not very pompous, with rather mediocre acting in general, while the film work is also somewhat variable with many irritating shots from the killer's perspective. Fulci clearly also likes to provoke with lots of naked, some nasty fetish-like action here and there, and the killing is done in a pretty brutal way too. The pace is also nice, so if you like some raw horror without much subtlety, you can find it worse than Lo Squartatore di New York.

Dirty Fulci.
You may wonder whether the soft porn scenes in this film are all useful for the story, if not, the Italian gloated with testing moral boundaries in the public and censorship. A scene in which a Latino satisfies a horny lady with his foot does raise questions in this regard. But somehow the perverted atmosphere forms a logical parallel with the depraved mind of the serial killer being hunted. A serial killer who also speaks like Donald Duck, how do you make it up? The murder scenes are gory and hard, and one of them made me look away. The film also has a few exciting scenes (including with a tied woman). The plot is very standard for this kind of movie and doesn't surprise much, but when Fulci does it his way, it's not easily forgotten.
