Typically, the film starts off great, but after about 40 minutes when the plot gets going and the film finally talks about what it wants to say, the film becomes much less enjoyable for me. That piece gave me a certain uncomfortable feeling, in the wrong way. It was bothering me and I mainly wanted the movie to just move on to the next scene. Not so much to know how this would be solved, but mainly that we could just get rid of it. And as far as I'm concerned, the whole dealing with Milos is also a bit distracting.

Anyway, I thought those first 40 minutes were mildly fantastic. Much more of an atmospheric portrait, of a young woman and a big city. Beautiful images, good pace, nice and engaging acting. That atmosphere returns at moments afterwards, but the plot seems more important. In some ways this is also a character study in which too much is added within the film (Milosespecially) so that the focus is not entirely on that. The director wants to tell a lot, but as a result he doesn't really succeed in anything. The potential is there, but the effect is often not. 3.0*.

Lydia [Hafsia Herzi] is having a hard time now that her relationship has come to an end. As a midwife, she comes face to face every day with a future that no longer exists for her. After she helps her good friend Salomé [Nina Meurissen] give birth, she volunteers as a babysitter. During an outing with the baby, she bumps into Milos [Alexis Manenti], with whom she had an affair some time ago. For unexplained reasons, she claims it is her own child and that Milos is the father. That Milos believes it and that Lydia continues to cling to this transparent lie is a gift that is difficult to swallow. Absurd romantic drama with an indifferent acting Herzi, for whom there is hardly any sympathy.

Hafsia Herzi shows her best side in this psychodrama about an obstetrician who, after an ostentatious lie to a one-night stand, appropriates her best friend's newborn baby. An impressive film with an uncomfortable story.
