Titina Paterno is the widow of the murdered Angeluzzo, whose image she cannot shake. The murderer is the fascist Acicatena, who still roams free in the village, because no one dares to testify against him. That changes when one day the socialist lawyer Spallone appears on the scene. While he wants to take the case to court, he fights for Titina's favor. That seems to be paying off, until he finds a competitor in the person of the late Angeluzzo's cousin Nick.
