I don't exactly consider myself a genius, but I can still hope I wasn't the only one who quickly figured out how this film works. Roger Ebert (not the least name in the world of film critics) really speaks of surprising twists. No, there is a lot wrong with The Arrival, but at the same time there is also enough. Charlie Sheen is doing quite well. Had to laugh that the note on his computer said he had to wait for his HIV test score. Immediately the highlight of the film!

In principle, a movie like this can work, but there are too many weird but easy things going on, like the way that kid gets involved with the whole business. Still, it's pretty exciting here and there. The ending definitely throws a spanner in the works. It's all a bit too simple and too casual.

Almost cult-worthy, actually. Because, on the one hand, there's so much that's all wrong with this movie—Sheen first, of course—that what goes well actually just stands out even more. And that's actually quite a lot, although I'm not yet sure whether the extremely funny way of walking of the aliens should be counted good or bad under the heading. In any case, it's also quite nice to compare this film with Contact - quite a few things are quite similar, and then this case surprisingly holds up. In fact, the only thing that is directly wrong is that Sheen is not annoying enough, not over the top enough. As surprising as that may seem.

I was curious because it got mixed reviews. It would be surprising.

Charlie Sheen as a scientist, well then you know. It's all about clichés, bad effects, bad scenes and bad actors. cringing. Surprisingly good sound came out of my speakers, so point above the minimum for that. And he drives a nice Saab

Didn't see the last half hour because it was time to go to bed, but I had enough with a plot description on Wikipedia. That's what I would recommend to others who aren't die-hard sci-fi fans: read the plot on Wikipedia and save yourself two hours of your life.
