"What possessed this wealthy widow to test her young lover with a beautiful temptress?"

The wealthy widow Countess Diana Gaston meets Vittorio Serra, the grandson of the well-known businessman Carlo Serra. Diana is convinced that she has met the right man and she does everything she can to have Vittorio stay with her. Unfortunately, both turn out to be self-centered, which repeatedly leads to conflict. Vittorio's passion for motorsport leads to lasting disagreements between him and Diana. They therefore decide to part ways as good friends, despite the fact that they think they can't live without each other. When Vittorio goes to a party with Diana, he meets young Adriana, who immediately falls in love with him. Vittorio's indecision makes both women jealous and complications are inevitable.
