An attempted radium theft not only fails, it also kills when the criminals use the rather unconventional weapon, a venomous cobra snake, to commit the heist. Soon, master sleuth Charlie Chan is called in to solve the case. Together with his son Tommy and his loyal assistant Birmingham Brown, Charlie is soon on the trail of the criminals.

A run-of-the-mill Charlie Chan B-movie, albeit with a few nice scenes on a night street where the rain machines are running at full throttle, and later in the sewers and ventilation shafts under a bank. Furthermore, there is the bizarre presence in a perfectly ordinary sandwich shop of a sort of living jukebox: a screen behind which a girl sits to listen to the customer's wish and then put on the requested record—a beautiful futuristic invention that never made it, undoubtedly because it would be an expensive undertaking to keep someone employed specifically for that, but in this case, the device can do a bit more… Benson Fong is once again the "number three son" who is so eager to impress his father, Mantan Moreland is the chauffeur with just as much courage as Lou Costello, and otherwise, it is all nothing special.
