The Mystery of a Hansom Cab plot
Melbourne 1886. Two men get into a carriage one dark evening. One gets out and the other continues his journey. Upon arrival, the coachman discovers that the second man is dead, murdered. The murder shocks the city. The victim, Oliver Whyte of England, was highly regarded by one of the richest men in the colony, Mark Frettlby. Whyte had his eye on Mark's 21-year-old daughter Madge. Beautifully shot in the era of that time. The film is enjoyable in its step-by-step unraveling of the fates of life that prove to be intertwined through the characters. The acting is more than adequate, which gives the film an extra half star.
