Limbo plot
Detective Travis Hurley arrives in a village in the bush. He checks into the Limbo hotel and sinks his teeth into the unsolved murder case of Aboriginal Charlotte Hayes. After two decades he can only rely on tape recordings and the locals are not keen to provide information. This is no different with the Hayes family, Travis is a white cop, but he does manage to create a bond with the trailer residents.

A kind of mood piece - you could call it a 'slow burn' but there are certainly no flames coming out of this film. Relaxation for advanced users, with beautiful black and white images of the landscape around the opal mines in Australia. Nicely alienating, just like the story of the film, although that is also about the most positive thing to say about it.
The biggest issue is the role of Simon Baker - the leading role anyway - who irritates with his Walther White impersonation. I can only see that as a mistake on the part of the director. Furthermore, it all goes a bit nowhere, and that is perhaps mainly a flaw - although I must say that the narrative trick with which the good boy is helped to get a cool car is very nice.
