"The mystery writer who lived his own stories!"

The aging Hammett (Frederic Forrest) is sitting in his hotel room writing yet another pulp novel, nearly coughing himself up from the TB. Until one of his ex-partners shows up, Joe Archer. The two immediately become entangled in a dark web of murder and crime.
