Young Talli is strangled on her birthday by her lover Damien. When she is about to die, time stops and Talli finds herself in a shadow world, a distorted mirror of reality. Caught between life and death, Talli must relive the hours before her murder, as all paths seem to lead her to Damien. Juliane Block probably tried to create an atmosphere of mystery, but she clearly failed. Even the playing time of 80 minutes is much too long for this amateurish work.

A hazy film with atrocious, over-the-top acting and a sort-of-idea that never gets off the ground. 8 Remains benefits reasonably from the short introduction, but almost immediately descends into an endless repetition of flashbacks that lead nowhere and make little difference to the conclusion. Director Juliane Block likely had a deeper layer in mind, but fails to communicate it beyond a few characters who, at a certain point, literally explain exactly what is going on. Perhaps that was convenient for the colleagues behind the camera, who undoubtedly couldn't tie it all together either. Small bonus points for attempting to create something original, but that is where it ends.
