"The Carters, The Cashes, and the course of country music"

The Carter Family were a rural American country music group that performed between 1927 and 1943. Their Hillbilly music was a major influence on later bluegrass, country, pop and rock music. World-famous country singer Johnny Cash, by marriage, kept the family's musical legacy alive with his wife June.
