Tommy (Darius McCrary) has just been released from prison. He is rather pessimistic about his future until he meets Memaw (Irma P. Hall). She brings him into contact with God. Meanwhile, Tommy discovers that he can sing well and falls in love with the beautiful Lily (Tamera Mowrey).
