Into the Woods is a combination of the well-known fairy tales of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk and the story of de Bakker and his wife who desperately long for a child. Unfortunately, de Bakker and his wife are cursed by a witch so that they cannot have children. They must pass several tests to lift the curse. They must provide the witch with a cow as white as milk, a hood as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold.

Watched this one with my 13 year old daughter. Just watched because she liked him. Found it too long-winded and too many songs. There was hardly any ordinary dialogue and every song was sung excruciatingly high. Such high notes are good for a while, but two hours is really too much. The content of the story was simple. But if you eg. at the intro you have to hear a song of 10 minutes about a wish, then you know enough. My daughter wanted to see this movie because of Jonny Depp, now it only appears for five minutes... Be open to all genres, but this was not for me unfortunately. Must be an audience for it...

The story lacks the irony of the fairy tales on which it is based and the songs are not particularly memorable in this fine production.
