A Hootenanny (country and folk) show is set up in a small town in the midwestern United States. The marriage between television director Ted Glover (Peter Breck) and producer AG Bannister (Ruta Lee), both working to bring this show to TV, is on the rocks because Bannister puts her career above their relationship. Further problems arise when Ted's manager Steve Laughlin (Joby Baker) and singer Billy-Joe Henley (Pam Austin) fall in love.
