"SINGING...DANCING...ROMANCING ON THE GLITTERING BARBARY COAST!"
Johnny Cornell, with the help of his girlfriend, the singer Trudy Evans, gains the reputation of a showman. However, the attention goes to his head and he trades Trudy for Bernice Croft. Trudy can't handle this and moves to England, where she becomes a star in the theater. Meanwhile, Johnny is not doing well when Bernice, to whom he is now married, persuades him to invest in theater productions that are soon doomed to fail.
