Heftig og Begeistret plot
The men's choir of the Norwegian coastal town of Berlevåg prefers to sing outside. At the beginning of the film, the men, thickly wrapped, brave a vicious snowstorm, which they almost hide from view. Gradually the sounds of their national anthem lose it to the howling wind. An appropriate introduction to a bunch of tough guys between the ages of 29 and 96, who are very different but have one great passion in common: singing. Their songs sing of their own reality: the wide landscape, the beautiful girls from the fish factory and the midnight sun shining over the sea. Daily life is usually less grand and compelling for most. In the privacy of their homes, the choir members talk about their memories and their dreams for the future. It becomes clear that the choir is an indispensable link in social life in this isolated community.
