Yotsuya Kaidan plot

Iemon lives in poverty with his devoted wife Oiwa. He is content with his modest existence, but his uncle is annoyed by his lack of ambition. After much insistence, Iemon follows his uncle's advice and pursues a job as a construction site manager. However, Iemon does not get the job, but on the way back home he saves a young lady and her servant by fighting off a few villains. The young lady, Oume, is the daughter of the businessman who turned down his services.
