Watchers II plot

"Don't look back or you'll never see anything again."

A genetically engineered and super-intelligent dog is released from a lab by animal activists. Then the lab is destroyed by an explosion. An Outsider, a murderous mutant psychologically linked to the dog, also manages to escape with the help of its creator, Dr. Steve Malceno. The dog, named Einstein, meets Navy Captain Paul Ferguson and convinces him to contact animal psychologist Barbara White, Einstein's trainer. When it turns out that the Outsider is leaving behind a trail of murders and is on their trail, they decide to confront them.

The sequel to the semi-known series stays closer to the book material, but feels more like a remake than a sequel. More or less the same story and structure are presented, except for the fact that the main character has grown up this time. This means that Watchers II largely possesses the same charm as the first installment, yet feels somewhat more familiar. Moreover, the monster looks more pitiful, despite the practical design. It is perhaps a bit too much of a human suit causing chaos here, and the dog's tricks are equally familiar, but fortunately, it is quite entertaining and adds enough substance.
