Undead plot
"Crazy has come to town for a visit."
Berkeley is a quiet, peaceful Australian fishing village. However, local beauty Rene decides it's time to leave for the big city. Before that, however, the town is hit by a meteor shower, including an alien infection that spontaneously turns people into flesh-eating zombies. Rene and some other survivors try to make their way among the living dead and find out what's going on.

As a B-movie fan, I couldn't resist buying this film based on the trailer, which looked nice. It was quite a disappointment. I'm shorter when I come up with the good points of the film. There aren't any. It's a nasty shitty movie. It was the first time I didn't want to see a movie.

Not a flaming debut by the Spierigs, but something brimming with inspiration, guts and that sort of thing. Something that the two regularly get things going again. Needless to say, because sometimes things go wrong. With the actors and humor for example, such as around the foul-mouthed cop. It helps if you're in a corny mood, I suppose.
The filter is not successful, a bit dull and when it comes loose, it is sometimes nice and wild and ferocious, but also a bit messy here and there. The music has a Home Alone atmosphere. I could actually laugh about that. Just like Marion, the hero of the movie. Cool hick who is nice and showy with his stock of weapons. Slow motion ballet with hitting bullets.
It all culminates in an imaginative, creative film full of nonsense with zombie splatter and aliens. Even fishing. It sometimes wants to be a bit too bland, but also has plenty of fun scenes in store. Chip getting stuck with his shovel among other things. Braindead comes to mind when the girl does something with a saw blade. Nice video that just gets through.

Those who get a kick out of gore images will be able to lick their fingers here because entrails, heads and other body parts fly across the screen. Surprising twists everywhere, but with this crazy plot this also seems obvious with all that nonsensical zombie splatter. Often bland, but quite entertaining. The ending is vague and disappointing. Still a 6/10.
