The previous parts relied more on substantive ideas, but director Patrick Lussier then turns it into a kind of action thriller and disqualifies Christopher Walken as a comic sideshow. Very sad to see his character “end up” this way, despite the good intentions of the screenplay. In any case, a lot happens and the slightly clumsier scenes look fine, but the acting is very substandard and the finale makes absolutely no sense. Lussier also fails to create a suitable atmosphere and/or to increase the tension, but in any case it is a small improvement compared to the previous part.
