Ever since the makers of this series made the absurd choice to move the setting to WWII, this has been pure crap. The random war images in between, the cringe-inducing dialogues in a 'German' accent, the idiotic story. Sometimes so bad that it becomes funny, but otherwise very bad. Incidentally, the puppets only have a supporting role. The largest part of the film is spent on funny fights with Nazis.

Jones once again devotes half of the (thankfully short) running time to a prologue set in Germany in 1939, shortly after the outbreak of World War II. It follows a young woman [Eloise Juryeff] who flees with the infamous book and is joined by a bandit [Gareth Lawrence]. After this dull and superfluous prologue, Jones returns to the end of Robert And The Toymaker. The toymaker [Lee Bane] is on his way to Nuremberg with his living, cursed doll, Robert. Since he previously lived in Bavaria as well, that can never be a long train journey, but Jones wants us to believe that the train journey is long enough to give both the Nazis and British intelligence a chance to intercept the toymaker. Probably the first film in which Germans drive cars with the steering wheel on the right! More of the same filth, but the cup of poison was not yet finished. Sequel: Robert Reborn.
