Benjamin and Dom have known each other since childhood and Benjamin has feelings for his best friend. However, he is about to leave for Los Angeles as a porn star, causing them to experience their last night together. Dom wants to provide Benjamin with money and decides to transport a package for a friend.

Weird and alienating thriller film with some rare horror and mystery moments. There is not nearly as much mystery as director Smith hopes to convey. The concept is much too simple to knit a whole movie around it. Not that Smith is fully committed to that, because after a while it becomes mainly a psychological understanding between a number of completely uninteresting characters. Malone tries to keep it a bit interesting, but her role is also rather ungrateful. Then it comes down to Koch and Patton. Between the two, the inconvenience is clearly aimed at and the director is fully committed to that, but that is not so difficult with these characters. It is then apparently necessary to hammer on endlessly and instead of an atmospheric thriller, Swallowed becomes a harrowing whole that is hard to look at. The pushy sexual tone in particular is useless and the slow pace ineffective, leaving you stuck with an almost abnormal atmosphere for 92 minutes that seems to do the opposite of what Smith hopes to achieve. Points for the brave acting and the first fifteen minutes, but I hope to forget this Swallowed as soon as possible.
