It is almost ironic that the most captivating scenes in 'Monsterwolf' are those without the monster. After all, they fail to make the wolf credible, let alone scary, on screen. Sometimes it is passable, but sometimes it is clearly a puppet. One can then ask oneself whether the makers do not see this themselves, and why, in the case of insufficient budget, they do not choose to use the suggestive approach.
Now, this Syfy production also falls short in other areas. The story, for example, does not reach beyond the cliché barrel of the genre. Sometimes it seems like a parody. The film is also funny at times, but the main goal of making it exciting does not succeed anywhere. Therefore a failing grade.

Creature trash with lots of blood and a message about the environment and living environment. About greedy men who are involved in oil extraction in a place that is considered sacred by the indigenous population. That can't go well. And it doesn't. A monster wolf takes care of that, who is possessed by the spirit of an Indian warrior.
A nice synopsis, but very poorly worked out. Still, the film is sometimes amusing. That has nothing to do with the cinematic quality. The cause of the amusement lies more in the deficiencies. Of acting. Of effects. Of story. Of the characters that are flatly designed and in general much too sympathetic. Even the redneck is sympathetic.
In between, the viewer is treated to poor animation that clarifies the origin of the creature. A nice attempt, but just not very artistic. And actually not very interesting. Just like the film. The setup of the film is quite ok. The execution is just disappointing.
