“Hell is a teenage girl.”

Horror comedies usually do well to create as little tension as possible. Go over the top and make sure the movie is funny and gruesome at the same time. Jennifer's Body is a great horror movie, but I felt like there was more to it than that. The whole time I had the feeling that the creators and the actors were doing their job with the handbrake on. It should have gone even more over the top, although fortunately Megan Fox is on a roll and perfectly cast. When she appears something happens, and even the usually strong Seyfried (here as a wallflower) can't beat that.

My second Kusama of this challenge. He liked it slightly better than The Invitation, mainly due to the playfulness of Jennifer's Body - it's just an unabashed teen comedy with a touch of horror that easily looks away. It is also very forgettable, it is not very much to the body. Megan Fox as a literal man-eater after a failed sacrifice to the devil, Amanda Seyfried as a somewhat nerdy girlfriend who has a bit more to offer than you would think, and unfortunately a Maroon 5 like cunt band as [spoiler ]devil worshipers. In any case, you don't have to do it for the horror, even for a teenage horror it is very thin. I certainly won't watch it again, in a few weeks I'll probably have largely forgotten that I ever saw this one. Still, it was decent popcorn food for an hour and a half.

Ugly duckling Needy (Amanda Seyfried) and sex bomb Jennifer (Megan Fox) make an unusual pair of girlfriends in this mediocre horror comedy from director Karyn Kusama.

The narrative structure is straightforward but occasionally uses retrospectives to provide the stupid viewer with information so that he will certainly understand the obvious twists and hassle-free issues that come along. An effective means of taking the momentum out of the film and seriously disrupting the build-up of tension. Incidentally, the retrospectives are accompanied by the voice-over of Amanda Seyfried. That voice does have something and that softens the constantly decreasing tension in the story course.

The characters mean little. Needy is intelligent and smart, but also introverted. So quite stereotypical. Incidentally, she is the only character who still manages to extract some depth from all her clichédness. That says a lot about the other characters.

For example, her friend Jennifer is just the body that provides the film with a title. The only role she fulfills is that of a romper. Her lack of low is somewhat compensated by giving her an active role in the mediocre erotic scenes and the mediocre horror scenes. The other characters are jest characters.

Still, the funniest scenes are those with sexy Fox. When the tension in the film has been reduced to absolute zero, her scenes at least provide some spectacle as she feasts on male admirers with splattering violence.

In terms of content, the film offers little. It's just not sleep-inducing. There are some nice bloody scenes with nice effects and some nice humor. Those things keep you awake, but it's not all that good.
