Surprisingly nice. Now I can give quite a bit of criticism on the film - certainly the socially critical part was sometimes treated too cursorily and then again it was too over the top, but what a fine film otherwise. Wood is fantastic, but actually all the actors are in their place. A number of delicious scenes that dare to be sexy and horny, Selma Blair in schoolgirl clothes and often just wrong humor that is over the top but works. Whether it's girls sucking their sweets or someone in a court who genuinely laughs at a racist joke. The running gags are also fun and the humor is so against the absurd that the film cannot be seen as a drama or realistic portrait, but as a jet-black comedy. Furthermore, fine music, nicely filmed with not always the usual angles from which to film. Oh come on, 4.0*.

The film has everything against it. Ugly cover, teenflick title and not exactly a cast that shouts out a classic. Plus, the reviews aren't that great, for what it's worth. The film therefore resembles a High School teenage film, but surprises regularly and has the necessary humor to captivate. It seems like a road that is familiar, but that is completely dressed differently.

Well cast characters, apart from James Woods who doesn't always appeal to me. The rest is in its place. Also unpredictable (yet sufficient in this genre) story. Only the ending was a disappointment. Although it could have been worse given the reputation of American comedies.

Surprisingly good and a film that is better than it appears.

Surprising.

A movie that I used to really like, but I actually didn't expect that much from this review. It's been a long time since I've seen it, and in the meantime I'm a bit more used to movies. It's just nice that this one managed to convince me again. For an American high school comedy, it's pretty sharp.

Story and setting are fairly limited, this type of "ironic" comedies within a high school setting are not really new or original, but the sharpness of this film cannot be compared with much. It immediately starts very well, and although the film goes a bit wider and deeper afterwards, the sharp edge remains present throughout the film.

Still one of Woods' best roles, visually it's nice (the attempts to do something extra are nice, maybe not always effective), but it's the comedy that sticks, in combination with the very double ending. Not easy to do well either, Siega passes with flying colors.

4.0* and a detailed review
