Interesting film, in which on the one hand perhaps not much happens, but where the uncanny atmosphere and the retro look still ensured that I watched the film with fascination for a long time. It's kind of All the President's Men meets A Dark Song meets Ghostwatch - it's set in late '80s Argentina and actually takes place (almost) entirely in real time around a television broadcast. And it feels even older, with black and white images and television visuals that look 60s/70s-esque. Anyway, we follow the television broadcast and the research team behind it, where it is slowly but surely revealed that a Satanic sect is in power. But above all it is quite disorienting; There is a constant paranoid atmosphere in which it is unclear what is really true, who can be trusted, and it does not help that the team takes drugs, hallucinates and a number of inexplicable events also take place. There is a lot of hinting, with facts that suddenly change (such as the number of children), suddenly even a Cthulhu-like tentacle on the screen, and more strange things without much being made explicit. And that is a choice that works.

There are undoubtedly more local political themes in this that I am overlooking, but the disinformation and mistrust of politics feel both old-fashioned junta-like but also modern. With a nice occult sauce on top. If you're looking for an atmospheric good hour of paranoia, and don't mind low budget and suggestion, this is a nice one.
