What an exciting movie. The atmosphere and the locations are very tangible.

The bad Guy is also good in his role, I thought for a moment that he must be such a psychopath in real life.

All in all an entertaining 80s movie.

There is no question of a quiet build-up in this pleasant thriller. It goes off right away when the chilling raison d'être for the film goes on a rampage in the first scenes. As a viewer you inexorably shoot out of your waiting and relaxed viewing position and immediately sit upright.

The killer's first performance is top notch. It's all cinematic. The design, in which light and dark alternate restlessly, is beautiful and stimulating. There is tension. The killer is there, but he's procrastinating and it gets on the nerves. It plays with its prey and makes an intensely icy and unpredictable impression. The score accentuates the deadly threat and pushes the tension further up. The sweat is in the hands.

After the first furious minutes of the film, which actually contain some horror elements, the film slows down a few gears and the nerves are less stressed. The exciting opening will not be surpassed in the sequel. Nevertheless, the film continues to fascinate, albeit in a less exciting way. The tension takes on more subcutaneous forms. Actually, most of the film is a long build-up (with a thrilling swipe here and there) to the finale, which again reminds of the furious beginning of the film.

The most appealing role is that of the deranged killer, played by John DiSanti. A very unpleasant role and very memorable. The female actresses are familiar and fun, but not very impressive. Lauren Tewes is an attractive lady, but her appearance is much too sweet to be a credible opponent of the ruthless killer. Jennifer Jason Leigh then. Her first major film role. Very cute, but no more than that.

Finally this. I laughed out loud at one scene. A stripper performing a very peculiar dance where her legs make exceptional movements is very entertaining. A quirky scene and a great tension breaker!

Jennifer Jason Leigh's debut in a very good thriller with slasher elements. Direction is excellent with great suspense. The cat-and-mouse game between the protagonist and Antagonist is very effective and brings a fun two battle. Shame about the playing time 85 minutes. A hundred minutes would have been better to make that cat-and-mouse game longer
