Don't Breathe plot

"In the dark the blind man is king."

Money hears about a blind veteran who lives alone and may have a large sum of money. Alex isn't happy with the job but Rocky is eager to make some quick cash. Then, standing by the only occupied house on the block and having calmed down the owner's rottweiler, they manage to get in. It soon becomes clear that the owner may be blind but is far from helpless.

Initially it seems like a fairly simple thriller by design, but due to the excellent execution, the beautiful camera images (including light and color use) and good direction, it is all very effective and atmospheric.

In addition, Don't Breathe still has a few surprises in store that only make the film even better. was responsible for a large part. Of course, the setting, the old, dilapidated house in the demolition district also helps a lot.

The other actors, especially Jane Colburn Levy, were also very convincing.

Excellent genre work, therefore, something director Fede Alvarez seems to have patented by now.

Four stars.

A film that will keep you on the edge of your seat all the time. That's how you do it.

Where does that come from. After all, it's not all that original, is it? A dark house, lost teenagers and a crazy person who haunts them. However, this film has quite a few trump cards, whichever it plays out. How well Stephen Lang plays, terrifying. Partly because of this man and his role, the film is a quick-looking thriller... I personally don't think horror really fits.

The direction may be there, with minimal resources, maximum tension is built up. Almost a Blair With Project.

Nice binoculars!

Brilliantly simple. As in 'Hush' (2016) from the same year, 'Don't Breathe' (2016) manages to retain the suspense of a character with a disability. Not here from the protagonist, but from The Blind Man (Stephen Lang) as an apparently easy target for a house robbery. Rocky (Jane Levy) hopes to make her final battle with a group of violent delinquents and has already hatched a plan to move elsewhere. But they didn't count on the tough war veteran knowing every inch of his own territory and having weapons and an aggressive dog at his disposal. As the title suggests, any breather can kill the burglars. It results in a vicious cat and mouse game between unsympathetic characters who have to strike back mercilessly to save their own skin. Although 'Don't Breathe' (2016) comes into slightly more familiar territory as diligent Rocky increasingly emerges as a 'final girl' from slasher films. Still, I enjoyed this one from start to finish. pulpy war of attrition where evil is punished by even more malice.
