Compulsion plot

On the island of Malta, a series of gruesome murders take place. Evie, a seemingly innocent young woman with a troubled past, arrives at her wealthy father's house. She soon becomes the target of Diana, a flamboyant and ruthless thief, and her boyfriend. As the two women begin a heated and passionate affair, Evie becomes a suspect in the murders.

Director Neil Marshall has only descended into utter mediocrity since his prominent collaboration with Charlotte Kirk. These days, big budgets are also a challenge to secure, which is why his contemporary titles are revealed in the form of Compulsion. The whole thing forms an erotic thriller with some effectively gory moments and a fine sense of color. However, the acting is mediocre (Kirk and Anna-Maria Sieklucka play far too much of a caricature) and the approach is far too transparent to surprise. It's a shame to see this now the preoccupation of a name like Marshall, but that's the way it is. Perhaps a fine discovery will emerge in the future.
