"They were investigating creepy clown sightings. This is what they found..."
The first clown sightings occurred in August 2016 in Greenville, South Carolina. Authorities were alerted to reports of neighborhood kids saying creepy clowns appeared around the forest near an apartment complex. The clown sightings spread to all 50 states and throughout Europe. Todd and Jessica Smith, two Raleigh, North Carolina-based filmmakers, search for witnesses and the clowns involved in a series of eerie clown sightings that plagued an eastern North Carolina community.

A horror film that tries to portray itself as a realistic documentary, but is actually too ridiculous to be true. On the plus side, the couple in the foreground performs reasonably well, although director Tony Cadwell doesn't make things easy for them by writing implausible dialogue and relying too much on theatrical emotion. In terms of horror, Behind the Sightings doesn't offer much more than a few waving and dancing clowns who occasionally get into mischief and pose for your door camera. Once the puppets get going in the finale, it's more of a humorous reunion, meaning Cadwell has essentially failed on every possible level.
