Aura plot
Mitch and his pregnant wife Diana inherit the house of Mitch's uncle. In the basement of the house, the couple discovers a special device that Mitch's uncle used to record people's auras. Mitch gets the suspicion that his sister Karen, who is in an asylum, was probably one of his uncle's test subjects. He summons Karen to the house and enlists a local psychic to investigate the matter.

This soulless exorcism piece benefits from actors who seem to be making a slight attempt and a finale that isn't afraid to experiment with visual effects, but ultimately succumbs mainly to its bare formatting. Director Steve Lawson does very little to stand out and primarily stays within the lines in Aura. The film is neither suspenseful nor atmospheric anywhere, leaving you with an endless build-up with nothing noteworthy happening. Ultimately, the finale brings some life to the party, provided you keep in mind that the filmmakers clearly struggled with budgetary constraints and make no effort to expand the scale anywhere.
