Thomas 'Tommy' Farrell (Robert Taylor) is a crippled Mafia lawyer who uses his disability to gain sympathy for his client in lawsuits. He becomes frustrated with his way of life when he falls in love with dancer Vicky (Cyd Charisse) at a mafia-controlled nightclub. Both then try to wrestle themselves from the criminal environment.
