Riverworld plot

Jeff Hale is an American astronaut who is killed by a meteor shower. However, there is no question of eternal rest: he ends up on a mysterious planet that is more like hell than heaven. People from different time periods end up here after life. This world, called Riverworld, is controlled by evil gangs. Hale and several others, including an alien who died on Earth, join a group of insurgents with a giant boat. Their goal is simple: to end oppression in this mysterious world.

Nice film and precursor to the 2010 version.

These films are slightly nicer due to the short running time.

Nice action scenes and decent acting.

3 stars

Well told, nice story with a great cast and beautiful locations. Clearly a TV production (Sci Fi channel) that was intended as a pilot for a series that never materialized. Was perhaps too much in the wake of more popular series like Lost that did something similar, but were a bit more modern. Because this series exudes more 90s TV. Nothing wrong with that in itself.
