In the children's home 'Sunshine' in the small town of Käsebrot there is a special feature. There is a beautiful colorful bird that has become a favorite of all children. When his beautiful song takes them out of their beds early in the morning, all the flowers in the home begin to bloom in all colors and the fountain spurts blissfully. But suddenly everything and everyone has overslept. The children in the home are horrified to discover that their beautiful bird has been stolen. The two police chief guards who have been called in do not know what to do either. Together with the two girls Bärbel and Sonja as well as with the imaginative Lutz they set out on a quest.
