Der Waldbauernbub plot

Styria, the second half of the 18th century. It's Christmas in the forest hut of the poet Peter Rosseger. During Advent, the farm boy Peter reads his first stories in the local dialect with the elegant Reininghaus family and thus becomes the attraction of Graz. Hans, the hostess' cousin, befriends the young man, and a close and trusting relationship develops, from which everyone benefits in their own way. During a ride in a winter sleigh, Peter tells Hans the best Christmas experiences of his childhood...
