A Christmas Gift from Bob plot
"A true tail of Christmas spirit."
England is ravaged by a harsh winter. Even London is covered in snow and it is bitterly cold: bad prospects for busker James! He soon runs out of cash. While the British hurriedly do their last shopping in the atmospherically lit capital, he does his utmost to make ends meet. James is on the brink of despair, but as always, his cat Bob comes up with a surprise and teaches James the true meaning of Christmas.

Sympathetic Christmas film, especially nice to see the now deceased cat Bob again, but it is very thin and unlikely in terms of plot. And also quite thick in terms of sentiment. Luke Treadaway is again excellent in the lead role and the film flows pleasantly enough, but it all has little to do. Then the first movie was really a lot better.

Famous Bob.
After the success of 2016's A Street Cat Named Bob, a sequel was inevitable. Again with Bob himself, the famous alley cat who helped his owner to kick the heroin habit. Now the first film was not very strong, the true event and the presence of the real cat made many a heart melt. The whole thing was drenched in such a feel-good sauce that it worked. The picture was as sympathetic as the story and the hype helped, resulting in cinemas full of cat lovers.
Four years later, the trick doesn't seem to work again. A Gift from Bob (it is released in the Netherlands under that title) gets bogged down in overly clichés and a very implausible story. It's all very sweet and not very strong acting by everyone. In the previous film there was still a bit of bitterness to the sweet due to the drug addiction, but now all the fillings in your teeth burst open spontaneously. The story is told in a messy way and sometimes even reminds of a children's film. Bob deserved better.

Another heartwarming film about the ups and downs of the red hangover Bob (✝️June 15, 2020, rip Bob) and his owner James Bowen, street musician and ex-drug addict: Caring for Bob makes me a better person.[/i ]
No hysterical melodrama monstrosity from Hollywood, fortunately, but a sweet, sympathetic film that, precisely because of its simplicity, made the tears flow every now and then.
In terms of message, this is roughly comparable to Charles Dickens' world-famous Christmas story; taking care of people who are not so well off. The absurd differences between rich and poor are discussed, a skyline shot of the City (where Scrooge lived) with the comment: [i]Look, one of the richest places on earth...
Also a special thing that prepaid energy in England.
Coincidentally, Bob also bears the same name as a character from A Christmas Carol: Bob Cratchit, Scrooge's underpaid clerk and father of little Tim. I say coincidentally, because Bob is named after a completely different character. Find out for yourself who that is.
"What greater gift than the love of a cat."
