The Dry plot
"Where the truth lies."
Federal Agent Aaron Falk returns to his hometown after an absence of more than twenty years to attend the funeral of his childhood friend Luke, who allegedly killed his wife and child before taking his own life. He was a victim of the madness that has plagued this community after more than a decade of drought. When Falk reluctantly agrees to stay and investigate the crime, he opens an old wound - the death of 17-year-old Ellie Deacon. Falk begins to suspect that these two crimes, separated by decades, are linked.

Few films from Australia that I like. Fortunately, this is an exception. A well-deserved 3.5/5 stars.
This is not a crime film with violence, but a quiet story about a police officer who lingers for a few days in the hometown where he grew up after the funeral of his childhood friend. Where he encounters opposition because of his alleged involvement in the death of a childhood friend.
Quite a long film, which could be shorter, but is worth sitting through.
With a satisfying ending, as I thought (where the perpetrator of the murder of the childhood friend is revealed, but story-wise nothing is done about it).
Recommended!

Atmospheric, brooding thriller with Eric Bana as a police officer who has to deal with crimes from both the past and the present in his hometown. The film takes its time in terms of structure and is mainly more of a drama than a thriller, but the plot is ultimately strong and the characters are well developed. And nice to finally see Bana in an Australian film again.
