Yu Yan plot

This film is set in 2008, between the Sichuan earthquake and the Beijing Olympics. Deshui, a taciturn twenty-something, lives near the desert with his old father. He hangs out with a local gang, but does not dare to tell his father and puts away the money he earns; his father tries to survive on the meager yields of the land. One day, when Deshui's father goes fishing in the river, a beautiful young woman suddenly appears. She has run away from a psychiatric hospital and says nothing, but that doesn't stop him from taking her into his family. Over time, her presence will disrupt the traditional values that shape the lives of the kind old man and his reserved son.
