Yeojaneun Namjaui Miraeda plot
When he returns from film school in America, aspiring film director Heonjun meets his former classmate Munho, now married and a university professor. Both men are well on their way to growing old early, and despite years of higher education have acquired little self-knowledge. They see a striking woman on the winter-cold sidewalk in front of the lunchroom window, who reminds them of Sunhwa, a girl they both dated. They decide to visit her at the bar she runs in Bucheon, a dormitory town south of Seoul. However, flashbacks show that they both have very different memories of Sunhwa, and when they track her down, it becomes apparent that she has many reasons for never wanting to see either of them again.

After the nice Oh! Soo-jung (2000) this second Sang-soo Hong was very disappointing to me. It is a misogynistic film without a head or tail and little in between about two self-centered friends and their disrespectful relationship with their former girlfriend. Typically, the film just stops at some point. Justly.

Quite a nice movie. Also a bit difficult, because with a beginning but without a real end and although I normally like sketching atmospheres, this mainly feels like a film as if the director himself didn't know where to go. The film is confusing because it takes place in two times without it sometimes being clear (especially in the second part) in which time that is. So I have no idea what exactly I was looking at. Fairly acted, idea is nice, but also a somewhat distant film that never really caught my attention. No idea what the director is trying to say, that men are always looking for sex and women put it in their mouths without mercy? No idea, could be, but not. In hindsight I can figure out what exactly was going on (they used to leave a woman and now they are doing it again) but I would have preferred to get that out of the film a bit more clearly. 3.0*.

Pretty confused film about a kind of love triangle between two men and a woman who share their romantic escapades. It was not entirely clear to me where the film was headed. The characters and plot make strange choices and everything just remains vague and uninteresting.
They play with different times and that just makes it weirder or more confusing. But to be honest, I didn't care what it was about anymore. Fortunately, you can get rid of it in less than an hour and a half. I could still relate a bit to the South Korean culture and decor in the background.
