During the Ming dynasty, there are four major martial arts families. Anyone who wants to put together a family of their own must get the approval of these families. Liang Henlu makes such a request, but it is rejected by the four families. He is even hunted by the families because his weapon is a Japanese sword and the masters of Chinese martial arts do not allow foreign weapons. Japanese weapons, in particular, are questionable and are considered weaponry that belonged to Japanese pirates who were expelled from the country long ago. Qiu Dongyue, once a grand master of martial arts, now lives in seclusion. He hears of Liung and his alleged Japanese sword and travels to Guancheng to learn more about it.
