Nurse Anne Lee blames herself for a fatal mistake by her sister Lucy, who is also a nurse. Anne loses her job because of this and then goes to work in a rural hospital with very few resources. She also falls in love with Dr. Prescott who, like Anne herself, has major problems with the chairman of the hospital board, Mr. bowl. Then it turns out that a very severe epidemic breaks out...
