Uta-andon plot
A selfish young actor and son of a great actor humiliates an elderly Noh player, who kills himself as a result. His father finds this act so cruel that he disinherits the young actor and forbids him to ever play Noh again. He now has to earn a living as a lantern singer. To win back his father's respect and to atone for his deed, he takes the old Noh player's daughter from the brothel and goes to teach her Noh.
