Underground: The Julian Assange Story plot
In 1989, 18-year-old Julian Assange lives with his activist mother, his much younger half-brother, his teenage wife and newborn son. His most cherished possession is a Commodore 64. Under the pseudonym 'Mendax', Julian and two friends form a group of hackers under the name 'International Subversives'. The rules of the game are clear: do not commit theft, leave no traces and share any information that is discovered. The trio hacks into databases of banks and government websites. But when Julian hacks into the Pentagon's database — exposing the gory truth behind a recent military operation — he realizes for the first time the importance of his status as a truth-teller. Meanwhile, the group attracts the attention of Police Inspector Ken Roberts, whose analogous approach to detective work is being tested by this new crime.
