On August 13, 1961 - the day the construction of the Berlin Wall begins - three people face a decision that will change their lives forever. Eva has come to Berlin from Thuringia to meet her stepbrothers Klaus and Uli. Uli is a serious and secretive electrician and Klaus a carefree taxi driver who would rather live in the West. Both are interested in her. Eva chooses Klaus, but he wants to flee to the West.
