Un Traductor plot
Havana, 1989. Malin, a professor of Russian literature, receives a mysterious memo in college. He is ordered by the government to take him to a local hospital, where he learns that he is supposed to act as a translator between Cuban doctors and the families of young patients of the Chernobyl disaster. At first he is furious about his new role, but Malin is forced to stay and eventually he becomes deeply committed to his patients. But while he becomes "King of the Kids" in the hospital, his relationship with his pregnant wife and young son suffers. Meanwhile, life shifts around them all as the 'Special Period' - the economic crisis in Cuba following the dissolution of the Soviet Union - begins.
