Twilight over Burma plot

Forest ranger's daughter Inge takes the plunge into the unknown in 1951. A scholarship allows her to study in Denver in the United States. It is love at first sight when she meets the young Burmese Sao there. Two years later, they get married, and it isn't until she arrives in Sao's homeland that Inge learns that her husband is the head of a Shan state. Together they want to induct the country into democracy, an intention that arouses the suspicion of the political powers.
